Police Chief 

The Town of Los Gatos is seeking an innovative, progressive, and dynamic law enforcement professional to lead the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department. Successful candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to community policing Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. The typical candidate will have graduated from a four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, police science, public administration, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of professional crime prevention, law enforcement, and police administration experience is expected, with three (3) years of command or supervisory experience in law enforcement equivalent to Lieutenant, Commander, Captain, or above; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, as described. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Possession of a POST Management Certificate, a master’s degree, graduation from the FBI National Academy, California Police Chiefs Leadership Institute, PERF’s Senior Management Institute (SMIP) and/or a POST Command College Certificate is desirable. The annual salary range for the Police Chief is $169,366-$228,644; placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
