We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our executive team as Police Chief.

Starting salary up to $154,804, depending on qualifications. The first round of application review will begin the week of December 10, 2018.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for leading Police Department personnel, programs, facilities, budgets and activities in a manner consistent with the City's vision, mission, values, and culture.  The Chief is responsible for leading, developing and stewarding the team consistent with organization and community objectives and values.  The position ensures that departmental operations keep current with best practices and procedures within the public safety profession.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates for the position of Police Chief will possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in law enforcement, or related field.  A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in police operations with a minimum of seven (7) years managerial level experience with a municipality of a least comparable size and complexity as Cedar Hill.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C) required with an acceptable driving record.
  • Advanced or Master Peace Officer License from the State of Texas (or ability to obtain).
  • Specialized training or graduation from either the FBI Academy, Southern Police Institute, Northwestern Law Enforcement Institute or Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas is preferred.
